Working On The New IA Cover…

So, we’re working on a pending book cover for INDUCED AMNESIA to be used for web graphic purposes – and for nearly two weeks I’ve been mulling over and working with several different samples; either with picture background and/or graphics (but I just couldn’t get totally sold on any of them) …………. And believe it or not, I’ve decided to go with simple black and white. OMG! How did it take two weeks for us to suggest and mull that epiphany!?! Should’ve remembered what they say: KISS! (Assuming you all know what that stands for.)

NOW it seems sooooo obvious! This is absolutely fitting for the novel since it represents the concept to a T – from darkness to the light! Perfecto! The cover will be split – and this is even more pertinent since the book is written in three parts (with very important reasoning behind that kiddies – and you’ll see what I mean when you read it). How could I not have thought of this long ago? Really!?

The important thing is, I’m happy with it now – and I think it’s absolutely perfect!! Yes!!

Oh yeah, and happy TGIF kids! HA!

Why read INDUCED AMNESIA?

True happiness, we are told, consists in getting out of one’s self, but the point is not only to get out – you must stay out; and to stay out you must have some absorbing errand.

Henry James

My novel Induced Amnesia offers a premise that’s fresh, and while it isn’t Fantasy genre, it is absolutely unique in plot and concept and pushes the boundary for Commercial Mainstream. Think: The Hours meets Sixth Sense.

Imagine – feeling so much pain that you would be willing to give up every memory and every person you know to start over, absolutely nothing left behind you and only a new slate to look forward to – providing you live through the process.

Induced Amnesia is a very unique storyline with a metaphysical element, a twist that the reader doesn’t see coming and a character that falls into an emotional ditch that most of us have experienced at one time. Chloe is every girl – maybe even every person – at some lonely juncture of their life. She was badly hurt emotionally by someone she loved, and she’s having trouble getting over it and on with her life. But it’s not her fault. Chloe is clinically depressed.

Chloe Gunn has everything any young girl should want, yet she wants to die, and just can’t bring herself to do it. Even when she survives a horrific car crash practically unscathed, her low-spirited view is unrelenting, so when Chloe discovers an ad for an amnesia-inducing experiment in a medical journal, it shines like a beacon. She volunteers for the unprecedented medical trial to induce amnesia where the answer seems simple: erase her mind and erase the pain, but the process doesn’t go as smoothly as she hopes. It’s just the beginning of a ride through a paranormal nightmare to metaphysical awakening.

Throughout Chloe’s recovery, the media relentlessly focuses on high-profile actress Victoria Palmer. A twenty-four year old Academy Award winner who just dropped from the map at the height of her fame following wildly publicized substance abuse, a scandalized broken engagement and an affair with a married man. But sizzling hot commodities just don’t do that, and everyone wants to know why; and while this actress appears everywhere on television and in magazines, Chloe begins to fixate on her presence, even during the absence of lucidity, and none of her caregivers can figure out why. Then, as only an unexplainable twist of fate can do – once Chloe is released from the clinic – the two women meet. Victoria’s state of mind is rock bottom. She’s drowning silently, trying desperately to hide it from the world, and Chloe becomes a life-preserver that the actress clings to tenaciously for a reason she can’t understand herself.

Induced Amnesia is in the spirit of Veronika Decides to Die by Paulo Coelho. Other best-selling novel titles that would be similar may be Celestine Prophecy, The Bell Jar, and The Hours.

**According to NIMH, 18.8 million American adults alone suffer from depression and it’s growing each year – keeping in mind that many suffer alone and never report it or seek help. According to WHO, 15% of the population of the most developed countries suffer from depression. This is not just a North American issue. This is a very large demographic to appeal/sell to, and this makes Induced Amnesia very current fiction.

And I promise……it has an ending the reader doesn’t see coming. I hope you enjoy!

The polished version of IA introduced…

Induced Amnesia is finished, and polished, with a few new changes – and thankfully, so far, it seems to be getting positive feedback – and naturally, as always, your comments are appreciated too. I’m weighing out a Kindle introduction for it for this Fall. There seems to be pros and cons for it – but people have asked for a venue to access full versions of the novel. Of course I’ll keep all of you posted on that.

Music/soundtracks are always a great mood-setter – and for this novel I can’t think of a better artist who can set the mood than Lana Del Rey. She is so talented in my opinion. Aside from her incredible musical acumen, she does great videos that are artistically beautiful and entertaining story-telling. For that reason, I suggest checking out the video below before going to the Induced Amnesia page and checking out the novel for yourself…

Seeking Agent or Publisher…

I’m looking for an agent, publisher, producer, investor, mentor – or all of the mentioned.

I’ve completed 3 novels (commercial mainstream fiction) and I’m focused on selling something now. (All of my work is protected by registered copyright.)

I’m open to approach and very open to ANY path that might lead to where I want to be ultimately. Simply, I just want to write books. I believe I write good books – books that people do and will want to read – books that would also make good movies – books that could have sequels if there’s a call for it.

I know that agents and editors sometimes have a different view of what they’re looking for compared to the publishers sales/marketing people. And to be honest (maybe because that’s my own background), I think the latter group is who my books would really appeal to. I also believe my books are an easy sell to the public.

So, having said all that – I want to be published period – and if selling the films rights first or any other outside-the-box path works, I’m all for it. I absolutely have no problem sharing a percentage with anyone who can get me there……hey, it worked for Paolo Coehlo.

And there you go…….have a read (pretend you’re on a beach or waiting at the airport) and if you have something to offer, by all means, I’m here…

New Manuscript is done…finally!

So – finally, I’m finished Induced Amnesia, and I’m really excited about it. It was written in a similar vein as The Hours (Michael Cunningham), Veronica Decides To Die (Paulo Coelho) and The Bell Jar (Sylvia Plath). The common motif being a dark depression – but don’t write it off yet – this novel has a cool new spin – and all you out there who enjoy metaphysics, self-help and the novel The Celestine Prophecy, might really like this one.

It’s written in 3 parts for a reason, and when you get to the end you see why. It has a bit of a Sixth Sense mystery to it.

Check out the first 4 chapters under INDUCED AMNESIA…

La Femme Nikita

Peta Wilson – this is an actress who, while there are some really good versions, is SO known for the part and played it exceptionally well. How can you NOT love Peta Wilson!

                                                           http://youtu.be/ybOQ4LrFPYY

Now if I can just get Peta to like my chapters, I think it would be one of my top honors. I wouldn’t know what to do with myself! HA!

BTW friends – as you can now see, I’ve added a new page to feature sample chapters of A Perfect Assassin. I sincerely hope you enjoy them – especially if you’re an agent, publisher or producer!

My Road To Getting Published cont…

I’ve always been a fan of La Femme Nikita – it was a good film for its day and a great character (who doesn’t like Luc Besson’s creativity?) – and I’ve even enjoyed the many spin-off versions that the film spawned. I think the concept is very cool. The idea of a femme female capable of agility and danger in a physical manner, as well as psychological, is hot. Sorry – really no other way to put it – at its most basic, the concept is hot and appealing to both men and women (for different reasons obviously). It’s the old adage – women want to BE her and men want to be WITH her.

It’s the conflicting image portrayal that’s so attractive – it also works so well as a character in terms of danger or a thriller, simply because it’s the femininity that implies a certain type of approach to such an occupation, perhaps even a conscience – it becomes a jolt when all of that goes out the window and this vision is able to create so much damage easily and expertly – and it’s realistic in terms of the mark’s reaction – no one could ever expect such a formidable enforcer in such a package. Initially, it’s very valid to think she would never be taken seriously. It’s laughable, until the aftermath.

So, this is where I started for my first novel. I’m very motivated by film and television, and initially wanted to write books that unfold easily and quickly, just as a film would. I love the commercial easy-read that you just can’t put down and you tend to mow through. This is a great quote by author Joy Fielding made to The Toronto Star in 08 – “I might not write fiction in the literary sense. But I write very well. My characters are good….and my stories are really involving. I’m writing exactly….the kind of books I like to read. They’re popular commercial fiction, that’s what they are.”   Well said joy!!

My Road To Getting Published

Ok – so blog, blog, blog – that’s all I hear from people who apparently think they want to hear from me; like Facebook isn’t enough!? I’m not a fan of spending time on the computer or the web – and yep, I get the irony of that considering I LOVE writing.

So here I am – I’ll start at where I’m at right now and track back as I blog on. And yes, I’ll include sample chapters as I go. My story….

First, please check out my YouTube promo video for my novel A Perfect Assassin: The White Ming Chronicles. This novel is unpublished at the moment and I am seeking a literary agent. I need hits! It has to circulate. And many thanks in advance for your support! Truly. P.S. I hope you enjoy it!       http://youtu.be/ybOQ4LrFPYY

BTW if you visit me on Facebook (Tyin C Krysset) you can view my Pages: A Perfect Assassin, Jaded and Induced Amnesia.

… OK so – I’ve finished one novel and I’m very close to finishing the next, and yes, the next too – If you’ve ever written a novel and tried to get noticed by an agent or publisher, you know that taking that process on for even one book is tough work. Arrrgh…  So hence my blog will document the adventure – hopefully with a very happy ending!!

My first novel, A Perfect Assassin has attracted some attention. I’ve even had unbiased readers read this one with the intent to solicit criticism – and yet, the feedback’s been stellar.

A Perfect Assassin fits a hot trend in terms of marketability – just look at movies and television. Both men and women LOVE the idea of an intriguing female who can kick serious butt! A Perfect Assassin is about a Caucasian girl who is adopted by a Chinese Triad leader and raised in Chinese custom. She is Anastasia Ming and known throughout the Chinese community as The White Ming – feared as one of the Triads most deadly enforcers, there is a wealth of tale and innuendo that precedes her presence, both within the Chinese community and without.

Anastasia Ming is a Triad enforcer with exceptional intuitive ability, who lives in a different world with different rules; the White Ming represents a secret society, almost impenetrable, yet, for some unfathomed reason, Anastasia turns informant where informants are rare. Even more inexplicable is the truth that this ancestral web of secrecy is being betrayed by one that lives to serve it with every breathing moment. Anastasia is physically perfect and precisely agile, yet her flaw is the emotional wall between herself and humanity around her.

The White Ming serves the Triad sect known as The Society, an audacious sect governing all others and led only by aristocratic ancestral lineage. Through a CIA sting, Anastasia is captured and forced to testify against her adoptive Chinese father, one of the controlling leaders of The Society.

In return for her testimony, Anastasia’s offered an assignment within what is said to be a covert domestic division of the CIA. Sent to a training facility in London, England, Anastasia returns to the U.S. with a new face and a new identity. Now known as Gracen Lily, she is head of Aphelion Associates, an independent, civilian agency specializing in elite security measures with many high level government agencies as clients.

The question is: has she embraced this new life, this new identity given to her, turning her back on the people who once saved her? Or has The White Ming found a way to infiltrate, gain trust and destroy the agencies who were enemies in the past? The race is on – who does The White Ming honor? Who will she save, and who will be destroyed?
